Yeah, let’s talk about how much I suck at roleplaying.

I’m having trouble playing Kevin. I didn’t think it’d be such a problem to play him, and I was actually really excited about playing essentially the villain from the previous game as a main character (and dare I say, “good guy”).

Well, problems came up with that.

First off: I forgot how anti-social he was. In DARPG, I basically had him show up once to taunt Tyler; the only other time that the Digidestined interacted with him was way, way at the end of the logs, and that wasn’t all that pleasant (for them — I had a blast).

Playing him as a (okay, I’ll say it just this once) Digidestined is more of a challenge in that he’s being forced into situations where he has to take risks. He doesn’t take risks. I actually ruined one of the logs because I guess I was supposed to jump in the Digital Breach and help Gina fight off the Sludgemon, and I didn’t.

Now tonight, I messed up in that I was really trying hard (too hard, IMO) to get an NPC (Darren) to say something about Tyler’s whereabouts; I got shot down (this wasn’t the problem), but… What Would Kevin Do (WWKD)? While he was told that Darren couldn’t stop him from meeting up with him and Gina after school to talk about the Digital Breaches, Kevin’s reaction to being shot down is basically “fuck you, I’ll figure something out on my own”. He knows when he’s not wanted, and he’s not going to horn himself into something like that.

Thing is, for the sake of the game, I should just forget about WWKD? and just go to the stupid meeting. It’ll advance the plot nicely. As it is, if I run off, stuff will get delayed again and it might mess up the plot.

I’m just depressed about this. If I play him right, he’s completely unlikable and impossible to work with. If I play him for the sake of the game, I’m doing it wrong.

I just don’t know what to do…

I’ve posted quite a bit to the wiki in recent times. Here’s some highlights of what’s new and exciting.

Digimon Adventure RPG

  • I’m slowly posting the logs — I’m up to Log #9 out of 21. I’m having issues with a few of them due to formatting. #10 might take a while.

Digimon Revival

  • On the other hand, I’m up to date with DRev. We even have an omake for your spoilerific enjoyment, but do keep in mind that this spoils Gina and Kevin’s Digisouls.

Persona Gaiden

Two posts wait can’t count One post in December. I officially fail this blog. Let’s see if I can remedy that.

“Well, I’m going to go to the convenience store to get something healthier to eat than cold ramen. I’d offer to get you something, but I somehow don’t think that you’ll want anything.” Jason grinned and left the dorm room, shutting the door behind him.

Leaving the actual dorm, Jason stuck his hands in his pockets and looked up at the moon. Perhaps due to the smog and pollution in the air, the moon seemed darker than usual; it hung in the air, large and deep yellow, almost orange. He always had trouble telling when exactly the moon was full, but it did look full to him…

Jason narrowly avoided stepping in a puddle of dirty water as he crossed the street and made his way to the convenience store. At this time of night, it was just about the only store that was open, save for the adult shops (but those were further away from the dorms). He pushed the door open, making the store’s alarm chime sound; the girl behind the counter smiled and bowed slightly in welcome, but he could tell it was fake and that the girl wanted nothing more than to end her shift.

Jason looked around and went for the store’s fresh food section. He picked up two conbini bentos after looking at them close. They’d been there a while, and the rice in the maki rolls was probably becoming hard, but it still seemed better to him than cold ramen. He also picked up two cans of hot coffee and a cup ramen (in case Bryan really did insist on eating cardboard stewed in monosodium glutamate) and made his way to the register.

“Is that going to be everything?” The girl smiled — pleasant but fake. Jason nodded, and the girl started ringing in his purchases. “That will be Â¥2,100.”

Jason winced — Bryan had better appreciate this. Actually, he had no idea why he was being this nice to him. He lived on the same floor as him, but he seemed like a bit of an ass to him. Still, he was willing to make a few sacrifices in order to keep the peace in his dorm, even if it meant that his funds would be low for a few days until he got his weekly stipend cheque from the Education Board.

“I hope he appreciates this,” he muttered to himself as he handed the girl two Â¥1,000 bills and a Â¥100 yen coin. She took the money and then started packing the food into bags, as if she didn’t believe that the boy would have the money to pay for his purchases.

“Have a nice day!” She waved Jason out with fake enthusiasm; Jason simply rolled his eyes and pulled the door open, letting himself out of the convenience store.

“Have a nice day… right…” Jason sighed and rearranged the food inside the bags — it wasn’t safe to put hot coffee in with a cold bento. He tossed the coffees in with the cup ramen, and he started making his way back to the dorm.

Jason caught movement in the corner of his eye. The high school student slowed his pace, looking around slowly.

“Is there anyone there?”

Jason could hear a car pass by a few streets away, but otherwise, everything was quiet. He frowned and continued on his way, but he was definitely more alert now.

“I wonder what time it is…” Jason reached for his keitai, and sighed when he realized the battery was dead. He had a bad habit of forgetting to charge his phone; he didn’t receive very many calls, however, so no one generally noticed except for himself.

“That’s great…” He stuck the phone back into the jacket of his school uniform and continued back to the dorms.

Jason never realized that something was watching him for his entire trip back to the dorms; once he was safely inside, the creature slipped away back into the shadows…

Short version: ending very anti-climatic.

Long version under cut for those who are sick of me talking about this…

Wow. Okay. Fangirling geeky post, ahoy. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Hunter’s running DRev, right? When he ran DARPG, we picked Kaze by Wada Kouji for the opening. It was a nice song and it worked.

This time, Sky found a song from The Best Selection ~ Welcome Back! — Pierce. I tried looking up the lyrics, and I found nothing. The only thing I could find is that it was the closing theme for some wrestling show in Japan? (WTF?) Fearing that the lyrics would be, ah, miserable, I set out to find out what exactly the lyrics meant so I wasn’t doing the Hanzismatter equivalent of a song.

Except the lyrics weren’t anywhere. I searched everywhere, in Japanese, everything. Nothing. Uta-Net failed me.

And found out that I really really can’t read kanji. Seriously, it took me anywhere from 20 minutes to three hours to look up one single character.

So I guiltily asked Alissa if she could romanize it and translate it, even offering to pay her… in the meantime, I kept romanizing myself, and I’d looked up all the kanji in the first verse and mostly played it by ear for the rest, though I looked up the kanji I couldn’t understand.

Then I actually got the translation today.

Oh. My. GOD.

Mind bullets. It’s all I can say. The lyrics fit so much that it’s not even funny. It’s SO. SO. PERFECT.

Keep in mind that I didn’t change anything in here! (Note that the romaji/english won’t match up in some cases…) Note: major fangirlishness that you won’t understand, ahoy.

I’m still shivering. It’s so perfect. Which means I’m going be OWNED.
