So remember I sent an e-mail to Metro regarding their Japanese classes? I finally got a response a couple of days ago.

Level 2 (Japanese for Busy People Chapters 1-15)

- Increased vocabulary (300 more words)
- Increased vocal work with props
- Enhanced grammar
- Introduction of action verbs
- Presentation in Japanese

By the end of Level 2 learners will be able to speak more fluently, speak with more confidence, and understand Japanese that is spoken at a medium pace. They will be able to use action verbs in the present tense.

Level 3 (Japanese for Busy People Chapters 16-30)

- Increased vocabulary
- Increased vocal work with props
- Enhanced grammar (structures)
- Presentation in Japanese

With your previous courses taken at Grant MacEwan, you can register in Level 3.

Japanese Level 3 starts April 15th, Level 2 starts April 16th.

Issues I can see:

1. When I did Levels 1 and 2, we only got up to Chapter 12 Chapter 10 of Japanese for Busy People, and this was the EZ-MODE book (the romaji version). [Edit: It was 10, not 12. I did 11 on my own, though.]
2. It sounds like they focus a lot more on conversation than at GMCC.

If I take Level 3 as I am now, I’ll be hopelessly behind. OTOH, I’ll be bored shitless in Level 2 and I’ll barely learn anything.

OTOH, I can easily catch up if I start seriously studying now (like 3-5 hours per week), and I can easily get Japanese For Busy People Kana Version off of Amazon. And it’s not like I’ve forgotten how to read kana… I’m just extremely rusty at it.

Thoughts?

It’s going to warm up to a balmy -18C (0F) on Friday.

Meanwhile, tonight, it’ll be -32C (-25F) with a windchill of -37.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeah.

Four votes for “keep going”. Wow.

… I didn’t even know that I had four readers on this blog. >.>

I’ll keep writing, then. Thanks for the comments. ^_^

I was supposed to go to Ikea to buy Felipe one of those small stick-on “Not” lights for his new cubby hole, but when I woke up this morning, there was an inch and a half of snow on the ground (on top of what we’d gotten all winter). That wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t blizzarding outside and dumping even more snow on us. I think we’ve gotten three inches so far and there’s no sign of it stopping.

Ugh.

If you look on the right side of this page, you’ll see a poll. I’d really appreciate it if you took the time to vote. ^^;

Edit: The poll looks like ass inna can in IE6 and 7. Stylesheet overrides are failing me. So… uh… use Firefox. >.>

Edit 2: I can’t see the names of the people who voted, so if you want to pan the whole thing, you can do that too. ^^;
