Note: Word counts are going to stop adding up. If I see something that needs to be changed in another story, I tweak it a little and don’t report the word count. The progress bar supersedes the summary.

I managed to find a Starbucks that wasn’t a crowded slum of coffee and villainy — the one at Chapters. So I went there yesterday and managed to pound out 1,856 words.

I was off to a very late start today since I needed to go for a massage (I really do mean “need”), a chiropractic adjustment, and a haircut. After grabbing a few pet-related things and taking a short breather, I didn’t get started until 4:30 pm. I was going nowhere fast until I joined another sprinting chat room at about 6:00 pm, and I managed to write about 300 words every 20 minutes, bringing my word count up.

My goal tomorrow is roughly 5,000 words, bringing me to 30,000 words. (I originally wanted 35,000 words, but that’ll be impossible unless I elect not to go to bed tonight.)

I still need a title for that “???” story, so comment here if you have any suggestions, though you really don’t know what it’s about. The excerpt is from there again, and it’s from about 2,500 words later.

From: That Untitled Story

“Oh wow, these controls are a heck of a lot more complicated than the ones on my flying machine…” Curtis leaned forward, stretching his restraints. “So does that mean that you don’t need to pull levers and pulleys to get the wings under control? What does that stick over there do? Can I fly it?

“Curtis, for the love of the Gods and everything they hold dear…” Naril grabbed her friend by the shoulder and pulled him back into his seat. “Please be quiet and let the man pilot the craft.”

“Yes ma’am.” Curtis sulked, crossing his arms over his chest.
