Okay, it’s not much and it’s NOT the blockage (it’s more likely waste resultant from the new food yesterday), but SHE WENT.

Starting to lose count, here…
Still nothing. But she did eat half of her food (yay!) and MIGHT have drank some water. She was extremely happy to be let out of the room and was purring/rubbing herself against me/”talking” to me. (She chirps.) She was also doing the “Mom… mom… mom? Mom! Mom…” meow to me.
Better yet… she tried to kill me, which she actually hasn’t tried to do in a week.
Please, please, please… I need to see something tonight…
Wish I had better news to report.
She barely passed anything last night — they looked like rabbit pellets more than anything — and she didn’t want to eat this morning. It also looked like she hadn’t had anything to drink.
You know how you look when you’re downright exhausted? That’s how she looks right now.
Because I wanted her to have access to her food without Whisper eating it, I’ve put her in my spare room with food, water, litter and her favourite toy (ball track thinger). She has a window to look out from, the bed to sleep on and the desk to rest on if she prefers something harder. She’s still upset, though.
Vet said to stay on our current course of action. She’s shocked that Eris ate at all, and she was on fluids for 24 hours so it’s normal she’s not thirsty (plus the food does have water in it). If she’s not better by Tuesday, she’s going “in”. (She hesitates to do this right now when there’s a significant chance she can pass this on her own.)
I’m going home for lunch in 40 minutes so I can check on her. I hope she’s okay…
Well, she’s home.
She still hasn’t passed anything. Now, our options at this point were:
- Leave her there for the night, see how she was doing in the morning/evening
- Take her home with the catheter in, bring her back in the morning
- Take her home and see how she does over the long weekend
I picked option number three. I didn’t see the point in keeping here there if she was stressed to the point of not eating/drinking, nor did I see the point of taking her home with the stupid catheter in and taking her back only to get stressed again. The vet office is closed Saturday to Monday due to the long weekend (but they have staff to feed/water), and… I dunno. The vet’s awesome but I want my damn cat back.
So she’s home. Had a huge scare when after taking off her bandage after 15 minutes (it was more like 25 by the time we got home) as the tech recommended, Eris licked the wound to the point that it was spurting blood. Awesome. I had the presence of mind to keep the old bandage, though, so we managed to wrap it back up again.
I stuck her medication down her throat (I’m not good at this) and half an hour later, I fed her the prescription food.
Not only did she eat the 90% of what I gave her (which was laced with another laxative, but remember, she hasn’t eaten in 24+ hours, nor has she been interested to), but Whisper likes it (sans the laxative, of course, but he could prolly use it). This is huge — Whisper’s the pickiest eater ever, and he just gobbled the whole thing up. The food isn’t that much more expensive than what I usually give them ($2.00/can instead of $1.89/can, ooo), and if they’ll eat it, well, hey…
They’re on scheduled feeding from now on. I expect objections from both of them. Hell, I expect objections from myself.
I’m checking the litterboxes (I bought another) every 15 minutes to see if she’s passed anything. It’s MOVING — it’s a good sign — it just needs to move out.
