First, I’d like to direct you to the new poll on the right-hand sidebar, below the wall of Tweets. You don’t need to do anything with it, just that I’d like to mention its existence. Maybe wave at it as you scroll down, or something.

So Myrna‘s off this week, and she decided that it would be great fun to go through Chains of Promathia for a fourth time for Tinu. She offered to bring Ithan-Yuran through as well, since he had gotten to the point where he could enter the Dreamworld Dynamises (Dynami?) and that was it. Well, I actually let her, and two days later, I woke up to find that the little guy has Sea access, and is at the same point as Dar now for that storyline. Thanks, Myrna.

When I had rolled up Ithan-Yuran in December 2009, I never thought I’d ever get to the point where I could do missions with him, let alone, you know, still have him around. I expected to be able to one day, in the distant future, to have him decked out in SCH AF (level 60 stuff) and to keep him around for plevelling, and roleplaying. I didn’t expect to be doing like Myrna does with Anrym and to cart him around with me everywhere and to use him to supplement my SCHly stuff. I tend to buff with him and nuke with Dar, or use him to just lay everything on and make my group invincible (or close to it).

However, because I never expected to get this far with him, I neglected to do things that most “real” players do — missions.

I mean, look at him. It’s kinda sad.

Let’s take a look at what I think I should be doing for the little guy.

RISE OF THE ZILART

Why: Sky access, access to Divine Might (the five AA fight), Atma of Illusions
Where I’m at: I haven’t started it yet. I’m serious — I haven’t even done the easiest mission in the entire game, “Go to Norg”.
What’s stopping me: The sheer amount of running around (it’s worse than ToAU), along with the fact that I really haven’t started it yet, are really discouraging me from doing this. I mean, I was getting irritated with the running around in the Windy missions, and that’s a drop in the bucket compared to this.

TREASURES OF AHT URHGAN

Why: Alexander/Odin Torques, Balrahn’s Ring (it’s not that great, though). Atma of the Sellsword, too, but it’s not really worth it.
Where I’m at: ToAU 3. To put things in perspective, there’s 48 missions, 5 of which have a JP midnight wait to them. YEAH.
What’s stopping me: Well, I don’t even have the torques on Dar, and I don’t know how much of a priority it is to do these. And there are a number of crazy involved fights with these. However, Alexander’s a great load of fun, so…

WINGS OF THE GODDESS

Why: Medal retention, storyline. I’m sure there’s an atma involved but it’s not on my list of priorities.
Where I’m at: Haven’t started yet.
What’s stopping me: I don’t know how to proceed — should I do Bastok and catch him up to Dar, or should I do Windurst on both Dar and him and catch him up to Myrna? And there’s so much running around. (Yeah, yeah, I need to suck it up.) I will definitely wait until the patch hits so I can get el-cheapo Retrace scrolls, though.

I’d like the other mini expansions, and all that, but since I haven’t done them on Dar, there’s nothing to catch up to… besides, there’s a lot there already! Zilart Missions first, though!

  1. It doesn’t help that the most annoying part of Zilart is in the fifth mission (Headstone Pilgrimage). If we can get past that, though, access to Sky and Divine Might can probably be gotten inside a week.

You always have my help to call on, though, love, don’t fear for that.
