In case you didn’t know, I’m responsible for posting the logs for all games into AlcedeaWiki. It’s something I volunteered to do a long time ago and that just stuck with me.
I’ve been behind for a long while, however, and the whole thing is stressing me out more than it should. I need to fully edit (correct typos, remove OOC and whispers, reorder lines) logs for the following games:
- Chrono Crisis (5 logs)
- Digimon Revival (1 1/2 logs)
- Spirit of Mana (whatever’s left)
- Unbound (
35 logs) - Ys: Rebirth (3 logs?)
And that’s just the new stuff. Old stuff includes:
- Digimon Adventure RPG (12 logs?)
- Final Fantasy IX Gaiden (everything, over 50 logs)
- Legacy of Mana (everything)
- Reflection of Mana (everything, over 100 logs)
- Kingdom Hearts (4 logs)
- Wild ARMs RPG (12 logs)
I’m overwhelmed!
A typical log edit includes:
- Running the file through a custom parser to double-space all the lines
- Removing everything before and after the session in question (and looking for stuff beyond the log, as they cut off at midnight)
- Removing all whispers (search for “whisper”) and OOC comments (search for brackets, does not work with games with a system)
- Fixing typos (search for “quarter”, “chainsaw” and “argh”) and reordering lines
- Finding all the section breaks (<hr>) and removing the names in front of them
- If it’s one of Sky’s logs, removing all the “**” that OpenRPG puts in (for Hunter, I don’t as he uses them to start descriptions)
- Rereading the log to make sure the above was done correctly
- Creating the page in the wiki, pasting the contents of the log, and associating the proper category
All that takes about 20 minutes per log. Ouch.
I don’t know why I take this task so seriously, but there we have it. If anyone can think of an easier way to do this, I’m all ears…
